Paralan Corporation Corporate Profile

The Company

Paralan Corporation was founded in January 1988 by Marc D. Brooks. It is a privately-held corporation by Marc D. Brooks and Barry Shiloff. Incorporated in the State of California, Paralan is located in an industrial park in the Kearney Mesa area of San Diego.

Company Focus

Paralan is dedicated to expanding the horizons of the Small Computer Systems Interface (SCSI). We have unique products with a wide window of opportunity open to us. Paralan provides the electronic industry with the ability to utilize SCSI in ways heretofore unavailable.

Management Team

The above team members comprise over 100 years of collective experience in sales, marketing, management, and engineering. In addition to formal education, management draws upon its years of working experience in various management positions, including the successful launching of a manufacturer's representative company, the founding and sale of three successful manufacturing companies, and the grant of patents on seven unique products. Most important to our company is the strong desire to achieve the highest quality in our products and services.

Products

Paralan was the first company in the world to have a fully functional fiber optic SCSI extender that works with any manufacturer's SCSI host adapter and SCSI peripherals. The Paralan SF40 is transparent to the computer operator, system hardware and software.

Borrowing from technology used in the SCSI bus extender, Paralan produced the first single-ended to differential converter that actually extends the bus length rather than decreasing it. Also, like the Paralan SCSI bus extenders, the converters correctly handle SCSI disconnect/reconnect. In early 1994, Paralan introduced a SCSI single-ended to differential converter for SCSI fast and wide (16-bit) systems with throughput of up to 20 megabytes per second.

At the end of 1994 and the beginning of 1995, Paralan produced the first ASIC developed specifically for controlling all of the signals used in both narrow and wide versions of SCSI differential converters and SCSI bus regenerators. This same ASIC is to be used in SCSI switches.

As the technological leader in our field, Paralan has the opportunity for world-wide recognition and rapid growth. We continue to strive to produce high-quality products with technological advances, and to maintain our leadership in the SCSI enhancement marketplace.
